Installation Requirements of Electromagnetic Flow Meter

Selection of Mag meter installation sites

In order to make the electromagnetic flow meter operate stable and reliable, the following requirements should be paid attention to when selecting the installation site:

Avoid ferromagnetic objects and devices with strong electromagnetic fields (large motors, large transformers, etc.) to avoid the influence of magnetic field on the working magnetic field and flow signal of the sensor.

Should be installed in a dry and ventilated place, avoid sharp, environmental temperature should be in 20 ~ + 60 ℃, relative humidity is less than 85%.

3. There should be sufficient space around the flow meter for installation and maintenance.

Installation recommendations for Mag meter

If there is a certain amount of turbulence in the pipeline and the vortex is generated in the non-measuring area (such as elbow, tangential limiting flow or half-open upstream cut-off valve), it is irrelevant to the measurement. If there is a steady eddy current in the measurement area, it will affect the stability of measurement and the accuracy of measurement. At this time, some measures should be taken to stabilize the velocity distribution:

A. Increase the length of the straight pipe upstream and downstream;

B. Use a flow stabilizer;

C. Reduce the section of measurement points.

Horizontal and vertical installation

The sensor can be mounted horizontally and vertically, and to ensure that sediment or bubbles cannot be on the measuring electrodes and the electrodes should be kept horizontally in the axial direction. When vertically install the flow meter, the fluid direction should be from bottom to top.

The sensor cannot be installed in the highest position of the pipe, where bubbles can easily accumulate.
Ensure pipeline full of water when installation

Ensure that when the mag flow sensor is working, the pipeline is full of the measured medium, not the non-full pipe state. If the pipe is not full or the outlet is empty, the sensor should be installed on a siphon.
Install Electromagnetic water meter between elbows, valves and pumps

In order to ensure the stability of measurement, the straight pipe segment should be set before and after the sensor, and its length is given in the user’s manual book. In case of failure, a stabilizer should be used or the cross-sectional area of the measuring point should be reduced.
The magnetic flow sensor cannot be mounted at the pump inlet

To avoid negative pressure, the mag sensor should not be installed at the pump inlet, but at the pump outlet.
Sensor inlet pipeline and outlet pipeline

The ideal installation site should choose the measurement point where inlet and output has enough straight pipes. The inlet pipe shall be greater than or equal to 5D, and the outlet pipe section shall be greater than or equal to 3D(D is the nominal diameter of the mag sensor).

The insert inlet pipe section shall be greater than or equal to 20D, and the outlet pipe shall be greater than or equal to 7D (D is the nominal diameter of the sensor).
When Pipe outlet is empty

When the outlet is empty, the sensor should not be installed at the place where the pipe is empty but should be installed at a lower place.

When the sensor is installed below the pipe, the sensor shall be filled with liquid and shall not be empty.
Serial installation and parallel installation

If several sensors need to be sequentially installed on the same pipelines, the distance between each sensor should be at least two sensors.

If two or more sensors are installed in parallel, the sensor distance must be greater than 1m.
The sensor grounding

The flow signal generated by the mag meter sensor is very small and only a few millivolts at full range, so the sensor should be well grounded. The earthing requirement of electromagnetic flow
